HNAM inv. no Π 15863
Balanced flax tabby preserved in four fragments and woven with single z-twisted threads in both systems. The threads show considerable variation in diameter and degree of twist, with some overtwisted elements and several knots, probably associated with repairs. The textile preserves deliberate perforations and a well-preserved final edge, where the weave changes before the warp threads are twisted together in pairs to form fringes.

Notes:
The textile is labelled as originating from Grave Circle B, although its precise provenance within the Circle is unknown. Its technical characteristics raise questions concerning its attribution to the Shaft Grave assemblage and may point to a later date. In the absence of radiocarbon dating, however, its chronological attribution remains uncertain.
